The Global Troubleshooter: Launch Your High-Impact Electrical Engineer Commissioning Career in Ghana

Are you a seasoned Electrical Engineer who thrives on precision, troubleshooting, and making complex systems hum? If the thought of being the final line of defense, ensuring massive electrical installations power up flawlessly, excites you, then your next high-impact, zero-fee career move is waiting for you in Ghana!

AIMSI is seeking a highly specialized Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join a critical project with our trusted partner, Angel Staffing & Recruitment Agency. This isn’t a desk job; it’s a dynamic, hands-on role where your expertise directly translates into system reliability and project success.

⚡ Role Overview: The Commissioning Specialist

The core of this role is simple: you are the ultimate troubleshooter and quality assurance expert for large-scale electrical systems. You will bridge the gap between installation and operation, traveling frequently to client sites to ensure every wire, circuit, and component functions exactly as designed, efficiently and safely.

Your responsibilities involve overseeing the testing and commissioning of complex electrical systems to guarantee efficient and safe operation. You’ll verify original designs, perform rigorous inspections of installations, and execute comprehensive tests to validate system performance under various conditions. Be prepared for demanding, onsite, client-facing work that requires up to 90% travel across various project sites and may require flexible work hours (including nights and weekends) to meet critical deadlines.

🛠️ Essential Experience & Qualifications

This role requires a proven track record of engineering excellence and field proficiency. Global partners like Angel Staffing demand experienced professionals who can hit the ground running.

1. Core Qualification

  • Academic Foundation: Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or have equivalent, demonstrable professional experience.
  • Philippine Licensure: While not mandatory for immediate application, being a Registered Electrical Engineer (REE) in the Philippines is a significant advantage, demonstrating your commitment to professional standards.

2. Required Work Experience

  • Time in the Field: A robust 5 to 10 years of working experience is required. This experience should be highly focused on the full lifecycle of electrical systems—from design review to final commissioning.

3. Specialized System Experience

Success in this role hinges on your direct experience with critical power infrastructure. You must have proven, hands-on experience in the commissioning, design, or construction of industrial and commercial electrical systems, preferably in:

  • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and Generators: Expertise in start-up, load testing, and integration.
  • Switchgear and Power Distribution Units (PDUs): Deep knowledge of relay testing, protective device coordination, and bus duct systems.
  • Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS), and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs).

✨ Special Skills Needed: The Global Engineer’s Toolkit

Beyond the technical schematics, a high-impact commissioning engineer needs strong soft skills and a mastery of compliance and coordination.

Technical Mastery

  • Standards & Safety: Strong knowledge of power distribution, grounding techniques, control systems, and adherence to international electrical safety standards (e.g., NEC, IEC). You must prioritize safety above all else.
  • Tools & Documentation: Proficiency in MS Office is a must for reporting. Crucially, any prior knowledge of construction management software like Procore and commissioning management platforms like CxAlloy is a massive plus that shows readiness for modern global projects.

Professional Edge (Soft Skills)

  • Analytical Power: The ability to swiftly diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical issues in real-time under pressure is essential. You must be the solution, not just the messenger.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills are non-negotiable. You’ll be the key liaison between the client, contractors, and project managers.
  • Adaptability & Resilience: Given the high-travel, onsite nature of the job, you must be physically able to work in active construction environments and maintain focus while managing physically demanding site activities and tight deadlines.

🇵🇭 Philippine Certification Advantage (TESDA)

While a Bachelor’s Degree and REE license are the primary professional credentials, additional Philippine certifications can enhance your profile:

  • Technical Drafting NC II (Electrical and Electronic Layout): This certification demonstrates a specialized skill in reading, interpreting, and generating technical drawings, which is vital for verifying designs during commissioning.
  • Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II/NC III: While aimed at technicians, higher-level installation/maintenance certifications show comprehensive practical knowledge of the build process, making you a more effective inspector and troubleshooter.

This is your chance to step into a challenging, rewarding role in Ghana where your expertise directly impacts critical infrastructure. AIMSI guarantees an ethical, zero-fee placement so you can focus entirely on delivering excellence.
